Fleas and ticks are everywhere.

Did that get your attention? We don’t mean to scare you, but fleas and ticks are a big problem (for your pet and you).

Fleas are small, parasitic insects that feed on blood. Ticks are small arachnids that are also out for your pet’s blood. These little vampires hide in grass or on leaves. They can also catch a ride on birds, deer, or other wild animals. Fleas and ticks are Olympic-level jumpers. Your pet won’t see them coming!

Fleas and ticks bite, irritating skin. When they drink your blood (no, thanks!), they can also transmit diseases that make pets and people sick. Some diseases, like Lyme, can be lifelong and severe.

Treating diseases, as well as infestations, can be very expensive. It’s also no picnic for you and your pet.

Luckily, there are many effective flea/tick preventives available, both prescription and over-the-counter. Some products are given orally, while others are absorbed through your pet’s skin. Your veterinarian can advise you on the best product for your pet.
